EPR contract term: renewal, cancelling one country and refunds

Summary

Each EPR registration with Eldris runs for 12 months from the date that country's registration is confirmed and renews at the same price. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current 12 months; fees are refunded only if Eldris fails to deliver.

The EPR contract term is set per registration: 12 months from the date that country's registration is confirmed, renewing at the same price. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current 12 months. Read together, sections 6.1 and 6.2 of the Terms make each registration its own term, so one country can end at renewal while the others continue. No fee is refunded unless Eldris fails to deliver. Under Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 44(2), a producer registers in each country where it first makes packaging available. Ask other contract questions before you pay.

How long the EPR contract term runs, country by country

Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country's registration is confirmed, not from the day you pay. It then renews annually as a one-off charge at the same published price, until either party ends it. That is section 6.1 of the Terms, and section 5.1 repeats it for every line.

The term follows the registration, and the legal duty is set per country and per stream. Under Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 44(4), a producer registers before it places packaging on a country's market. Electrical equipment follows Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 16(1), and batteries follow Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 55(2). Each country keeps its own register, so each registration is a separate line with its own confirmation date. Registers confirm at different speeds, which means a seller with several countries has several renewal dates spread across the year. Two lines paid on the same day can renew in different months. Section 5.1 calls the charge a one-off annual fee per country and per compliance stream: packaging, electrical equipment or batteries. There are no monthly fees. Nothing in the Terms ties a registration to the calendar year; the date that matters is the confirmation date of that line.

What a renewal costs, and when it is charged

A renewal costs the same published price as the first year, line by line. There is no separate renewal tariff and no first-year discount that disappears later. Every line's current price is published on the pricing page and quoted in the calculator when you order.

Section 5.2 of the Terms sets how the charge is taken. Registration and renewal fees are one-off payments, and you authorise charges to your payment method at the point of order and at each annual renewal. All fees are payable in advance for the relevant annual period, so each renewal pays for the 12 months that follow it. Because every line renews on its own confirmation date, a seller with several countries can see separate charges through the year rather than one annual bill. Fees set by a scheme or an authority follow a different rule. Under section 5.1, they are billed at cost, never marked up. They are eco-contributions, government fees above the thresholds included in a line, and stated third-party fees. Each line and its price are on the pricing page. A breakdown of EPR costs for EU sellers shows how the parts fit together.

Cancelling one country while the others continue

You may cancel at any time, through your account dashboard or by contacting support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, which for a registration is its current 12 months. Until then, the service for that registration continues as normal.

Section 6.2 is short, and section 6.1 gives it its shape. Section 6.2 lets you cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current billing period. Section 6.1 sets that period registration by registration, from each country's own confirmation date. Read together, the two sections mean a cancellation need not cover every country at once. If you stop selling in one market, that registration can end at its own renewal. The registrations in your other countries carry on, each to its own date. When you cancel, name the country and the stream you want to stop, so it is clear which line you mean. Cancelling ends the Eldris service for that line; it does not change the law. The duty to be registered comes from the regulations cited above, and it applies for as long as you place goods on that market.

Each registration has its own term, so a cancellation can take effect for one country at its renewal while the registrations in other countries run on.

Refunds, and the one exception in the Terms

Fees are not refunded for a cancellation, a change of mind or any other reason on your side. The one exception is Eldris's own failure to deliver. If Eldris does not deliver the agreed scope of a service you bought, you are entitled to a full refund of its fee on request.

Section 6.3 says all fees are payable in full at the time of purchase, and that once payment is made the service is contractually finalised. That is why a cancellation under section 6.2 stops the next renewal rather than returning part of the current year. Section 6.1 adds a rule for work already under way. Registration fees and one-off items, for example a Spanish NIF, are non-refundable once the registration work has begun. Outside the failure-to-deliver exception, section 6.3 names onboarding, setup and subscription fees among the fees that are not refunded. The exception works service by service. The refund covers the fee paid for the service that was not delivered, not every line of the order. If anything in a quote is unclear, ask before payment by replying to the quote. The full wording is in sections 6.1 to 6.3 of the Terms, which form the contract.

Adding or removing a country, before and after you pay

Before you pay, build a new quote in the calculator, or reply to the quote and say which country or stream to add or remove. Once you are registered, adding a country uses the business details already on file. There is no need to restart the onboarding.

The quote is the place to settle the shape of an order, because each line's term starts only when that country's registration is confirmed. A country removed before payment never starts a term, and nothing is charged for it. A country added after registration becomes a new line. Eldris handles the new registration using the details you have already given, at the rate published for that line. It then runs for its own 12 months from the date its registration is confirmed, and renews at the same price. The countries you already hold keep their own dates, so adding one does not reset them. Stopping a country after payment follows section 6.2, with the effect described above, and the refund rule of section 6.3 applies to it. Short answers to the contract questions sellers ask sit with the others on the EPR questions page.

Frequently asked questions

Does the 12 months start when I pay?

No. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country's registration is confirmed. Payment starts the work; confirmation starts the term. Registers confirm at different speeds, so your renewal dates can differ from one country to the next.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. Section 5.1 of the Terms says there are no monthly fees. Each registration is a one-off annual charge per country and per stream, at the rate published on the pricing page when you order. It renews once a year at the same price.

Will the price change in year two?

No. Each registration renews at the same published price for its line, with no separate renewal tariff and no first-year discount that disappears later. Third-party fees billed at cost follow the scheme's or authority's own tariff, which the scheme and authority fees page sets out.

Do I get money back for the rest of the year if I cancel?

No. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Section 6.3 of the Terms rules out refunds for cancellation or a change of mind. The only refund the Terms allow is for Eldris's own failure to deliver the agreed scope of a service.

Is a Spanish NIF refunded if I drop Spain?

Not once the work has begun. Section 6.1 of the Terms says registration fees and one-off items, for example a Spanish NIF, are non-refundable once the registration work has begun. A one-off line is charged once, not at each renewal.

Does cancelling end my duty to register?

No. The duty comes from the law of each market, not from the contract: for packaging, Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 44(2). Cancelling ends the Eldris service for that line. The duty to be registered applies for as long as you place goods on that market.
