WEEE EPR in Cyprus is mandatory under the national waste legislation transposing the EU WEEE Directive, with compliance delivered through licensed collective systems supervised by the Department of Environment. Producers placing electrical equipment, batteries or packaging on the Cypriot market must join the relevant collective system. EPR registration in Cyprus costs £655 for Packaging, £705 for WEEE and £705 for Battery with Eldris — a one-off annual fee, never monthly, with the Authorised Representative included. Pan-EU Amazon sellers whose stock reaches Cypriot customers must register; without membership of WEEE Cyprus, AFIS or Green Dot, Cypriot fulfilment is non-compliant. Cyprus establishes producer identity through membership of the licensed collective system for each stream: WEEE Cyprus (operated by Electrocyclosis) for electronics, AFIS Cyprus for batteries and Green Dot Cyprus for packaging. Your membership number with each system is what Cypriot compliance is checked against.

What Makes Cyprus Different

Small island market, full obligation: Cyprus is a small market by volume but applies the complete EU producer-responsibility framework. The three collective systems — WEEE Cyprus, AFIS and Green Dot — are well established, and the Department of Environment supervises their producer registers.

Cypriot Reporting Cycles and Deadlines

Cypriot producer responsibility runs on an annual declaration cycle. Producers report the quantities of electronics, batteries and packaging placed on the Cypriot market to their collective systems, which calculate the environmental contributions due. Declarations are typically reconciled in the first part of the year for the prior calendar year.

Each registration line is one payment a year, per country. There is no monthly billing. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country is registered and renews at the same price (Terms, section 5). Government, authority and scheme fees are passed through at cost, never marked up.

No. Cypriot producer responsibility is established through membership of the licensed collective systems — WEEE Cyprus, AFIS and Green Dot. A German WEEE-Reg.-Nr. carries no weight in Cyprus. Why are third-party fees not included in the Cyprus price?

Cypriot collective-system and government charges depend on the volume and material mix you place on the market, so Eldris keeps them separate and passes them through at cost rather than estimating them into the headline fee. This keeps the service price transparent and the recycling contributions auditable.

Do non-EU sellers need an Authorised Representative in Cyprus?

Yes, if they sell directly to consumers there. A seller established outside Cyprus appoints an authorised representative in Cyprus for packaging (Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 45(3)) and for batteries (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 56(3)); for electronics it registers there through an authorised representative where it is not registered itself (Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 16(1)).
