The ERA Producer Registration — Your Maltese EPR Identity

Producers are entered on the ERA register and contracted to an authorised scheme; GreenPak issues the membership evidence Amazon checks against. This is a distinct Maltese registration — it is the small-market equivalent of Germany's WEEE-Reg.-Nr. and cannot be substituted with a German or Italian number.

Maltese Reporting Cycles and Deadlines

Maltese producer responsibility runs on an annual declaration cycle. Producers report the quantities and weight of electronics, batteries and packaging placed on the Maltese market to GreenPak and the ERA, typically reconciled in the first part of the year, and recycling contributions are calculated from those declared masses.

Each registration line is one payment a year, per country. There is no monthly billing. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country is registered and renews at the same price (Terms, section 5). Government, authority and scheme fees are passed through at cost, never marked up.

Do non-EU sellers need an Authorised Representative in Malta?

Yes, if they sell directly to consumers there. A seller established outside Malta appoints an authorised representative in Malta for packaging (Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 45(3)) and for batteries (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 56(3)); for electronics it registers there through an authorised representative where it is not registered itself (Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 16(1)). What is GreenPak?

GreenPak is an authorised producer responsibility scheme in Malta, handling collection and recycling obligations for packaging, WEEE and batteries on behalf of registered producers. Eldris enrols you with GreenPak across whichever streams your products require, alongside your ERA register entry.

There is no Amazon Malta: do I still need to register there?

Yes, if you sell to consumers in Malta. Maltese buyers order from other Amazon stores and other shops, and a seller that sells packaged goods, electronics or batteries to consumers in Malta at a distance is a producer in Malta for what it sells there. Eldris registers Malta alongside your other countries.
