What You Must Register in Denmark

WEEE EPR in Denmark is mandatory under the Danish Environmental Protection Act and the Statutory Order on producer responsibility, which transpose the EU WEEE Directive and assign producer registration to DPA-System (Dansk Producentansvar). Producers placing electrical equipment, batteries or packaging on the Danish market must register with DPA-System. EPR registration in Denmark costs £365 for Battery, £465 for WEEE and £450 for Packaging with Eldris — a one-off annual fee, never monthly. The DPA-System Register and Your Danish Producer Identity

Denmark operates a single national producer register — DPA-System — covering electronics, batteries and, more recently, packaging. Registration issues a producer number that is the backbone of Danish compliance; alongside it, producers join a collective take-back scheme for the physical collection obligations.

A DPA-System producer number is strictly Danish and cannot be substituted with a German or Swedish registration even within a Nordic Pan-EU footprint. Eldris secures the DPA-System registration and the collective-scheme membership, then delivers the evidence formatted for Amazon Seller Central.

What Makes Denmark Different

One national register, multiple streams: unlike countries with separate registers per stream, Denmark consolidates WEEE, battery and packaging producer registration in DPA-System, supervised by the Danish EPA (Miljøstyrelsen). This simplifies the register side but makes the DPA-System number indispensable.

Packaging EPR is newly extended: Denmark has rolled full producer responsibility into packaging through DPA-System, so sellers who previously only handled WEEE and batteries now have a packaging obligation as well. Eldris files the packaging registration alongside the others.

Affordable battery line: Danish Battery sits at £365 one-off per year with Eldris — one of the lower battery lines in the Nordics — while WEEE is £465 and Packaging £450. Additional brands are £90 each.

Danish Reporting Cycles and Deadlines

Danish producer responsibility runs on an annual reporting cycle through DPA-System. Producers report the quantities of electronics, batteries and packaging placed on the Danish market for the previous calendar year, typically in the spring, and DPA-System and the collective schemes calculate the financing obligations.

Is the fee annual or monthly?

Each registration line is one payment a year, per country. There is no monthly billing. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country is registered and renews at the same price (Terms, section 5). Government, authority and scheme fees are passed through at cost, never marked up.

How long does EPR registration in Denmark take?

Can I use my German or Swedish EPR number in Denmark?

No. Danish producer responsibility is a separate national registration with DPA-System. A German WEEE-Reg.-Nr. or a Swedish Naturvårdsverket registration is not valid in Denmark. Eldris reuses your existing business data to file the Danish registration without a second onboarding form.

Does Denmark now require packaging EPR?

Yes. Denmark has extended full producer responsibility to packaging, administered through DPA-System, so sellers placing packaged goods on the Danish market now have a packaging obligation in addition to WEEE and batteries. Eldris files the Danish packaging registration alongside your other streams.

Do non-EU sellers need an Authorised Representative in Denmark?

Yes, if they sell directly to consumers there. A seller established outside Denmark appoints an authorised representative in Denmark for packaging (Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 45(3)) and for batteries (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 56(3)); for electronics it registers there through an authorised representative where it is not registered itself (Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 16(1)).
