What You Must Register in Sweden

WEEE (electronics) EPR in Sweden is mandatory for any producer placing electrical or electronic equipment on the Swedish market under the Producer Responsibility Ordinance (2014:1075). If you sell a mains-powered or battery-powered product on Amazon.se, you must register for WEEE at minimum, add Battery EPR where the product contains or ships with batteries, and hold Packaging EPR for the box, fillers and labels. Sweden treats the marketplace seller as the producer when no Swedish-established entity places the goods first, so foreign Amazon sellers carry the obligation directly. The EE-Register — Your Swedish EPR Identity

Producers register in Naturvårdsverket's producentregister (the EE- and battery register), which issues the producer registration confirmation Amazon checks against. This is the Swedish equivalent of Germany's WEEE-Reg.-Nr. — a distinct national registration that cannot be substituted with a German or French number.

Because Sweden requires a producer responsibility organisation membership alongside the register entry, Eldris enrols you with El-Kretsen (a WEEE and battery scheme) and FTI for packaging, then delivers your registration confirmation formatted for Amazon Seller Central upload.

What Makes Sweden Different

Authority register plus scheme membership: unlike single-step countries, Swedish compliance has two layers — the Naturvårdsverket register entry and a producer responsibility organisation contract (El-Kretsen for WEEE and batteries, FTI for packaging). Both are required before listings are compliant; Eldris completes both in one onboarding.

Low battery line, standard WEEE: Sweden's battery EPR is among the most affordable in the EU at £460 one-off per year, while WEEE sits at £555. This makes Sweden a low-friction addition for sellers already registered in a larger market such as Germany or France.

Annual market-data declaration: Swedish schemes require yearly reporting of the units and weight you placed on the market. Late or missing declarations trigger scheme penalties and can escalate to Naturvårdsverket enforcement.

Swedish Reporting Cycles and Deadlines

Swedish producer responsibility operates on an annual declaration cycle. Producers report the quantity and weight of electronics, batteries and packaging placed on the Swedish market for the previous calendar year, typically due in the first quarter. El-Kretsen and FTI calculate recycling contributions from these figures.

Is the fee annual or monthly?

Each registration line is one payment a year, per country. There is no monthly billing. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country is registered and renews at the same price (Terms, section 5). Government, authority and scheme fees are passed through at cost, never marked up.

How long does EPR registration in Sweden take?

How much does EPR registration in Sweden cost?

EPR registration in Sweden costs £460 one-off per year for Battery, £465 for Packaging and £555 for WEEE with Eldris. Each stream is a one-off annual fee — there is no monthly billing. Additional brands are £90 each.

Can I use my German or French EPR number in Sweden?

No. Swedish producer responsibility is a separate national registration with Naturvårdsverket. A German WEEE-Reg.-Nr. or French UIN is not valid in Sweden. Eldris reuses your existing business data to file the Swedish registration without a second onboarding form.

Do I need El-Kretsen and FTI as well as the register?

Yes. Sweden requires both a Naturvårdsverket register entry and membership of a producer responsibility organisation — El-Kretsen for WEEE and batteries, FTI for packaging. Eldris arranges both as part of the single Sweden fee.

Does Amazon Pay on Behalf cover Sweden?

Amazon operates Pay on Behalf for some Swedish EPR streams, but it does not give you your own producer registration or satisfy the legal obligation to be registered. Direct registration through Eldris delivers registration numbers in your own company name.

Where are the sellers on Amazon's EU marketplaces based?

The Sellers Index, Eldris's own record of Amazon sellers, covers Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it, Amazon.es and Amazon.co.uk, not the Amazon store for Sweden. On the four EU marketplaces, 66.9% of the 54,325 sellers found with a recorded country had a business address outside the EU (last seen December 2025 to March 2026).
