What You Must Register in France

If you sell an electronic product on Amazon.fr, you need WEEE (DEEE) + Packaging (REP emballages) at minimum. Battery EPR applies if the product contains a battery. France also operates EPR for furniture, textiles, toys, sporting goods, and DIY products under the AGEC law — Eldris advises during onboarding if additional streams apply to your product range.

What the Eldris Price Includes for France

Eldris registers each French EPR stream for a one-off annual fee — there is no monthly billing. What Makes France Different

Broadest EPR scope in Europe: The AGEC law (2020) expanded France's EPR to cover 22 product categories — far more than any other EU country. Beyond WEEE, packaging, and batteries, France mandates EPR for furniture, textiles, toys, sporting goods, DIY products, and single-use plastics. From 2026, France has tightened eco-modulation criteria under the AGEC roadmap, introducing higher eco-contribution penalties for products with low repairability scores and strengthening marketplace enforcement through mandatory UIN verification at the point of listing.

Visible eco-contribution: France is one of the few EU countries where the eco-contribution must be shown separately on invoices. This is not optional — it is a legal requirement. Eldris provides the per-product eco-contribution figures for your invoicing.

Eco-organism system: Unlike Germany's authority-run register, France uses competing eco-organisms (Ecosystem, Ecologic) to manage WEEE collection and recycling. Eldris selects the most appropriate eco-organism for your product categories and volumes.

The UIN — Your French EPR Identity

Upon registration with SYDEREP, producers receive a Unique Identifier Number (UIN) — the French equivalent of Germany's WEEE-Reg.-Nr. The UIN is the registration number you provide to Amazon.fr for compliance verification. Each EPR stream (WEEE, batteries, packaging) generates its own UIN.

Amazon France validates UINs against the SYDEREP database. Invalid or missing UINs result in listing restrictions. Eldris delivers your UINs to your dashboard immediately upon ADEME confirmation, formatted for Seller Central upload.

French Reporting Cycles and Deadlines

French eco-organisms operate on an annual declaration cycle. Producers must submit their annual market data — units and weight of products placed on the French market — to each eco-organism by the deadline specified in their membership agreement, typically in the first quarter following the reporting year.

Late declarations result in penalty fees from the eco-organism and potential referral to ADEME for enforcement action. Eldris tracks all French reporting deadlines, prepares declarations from your sales data, submits them to each eco-organism, and confirms receipt.

Is the fee annual or monthly?

Each registration line is one payment a year, per country. There is no monthly billing. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country is registered and renews at the same price (Terms, section 5). Government, authority and scheme fees are passed through at cost, never marked up.

How long does EPR registration in France take?

Can I use my German WEEE number in France?

No. German and French EPR registrations are entirely separate. A Stiftung EAR WEEE-Reg.-Nr. is not valid in France. You need a French UIN from SYDEREP. Eldris handles both registrations — your German data is reused for French applications automatically.

What is a UIN?

UIN (Unique Identifier Number) is the French EPR registration number issued via SYDEREP. Each EPR stream (WEEE, batteries, packaging) generates its own UIN. Amazon.fr validates UINs against the SYDEREP database.

What are the reporting requirements?

Annual declarations to each eco-organism covering units and weight placed on the French market, categorised by type. Typically due in Q1 following the reporting year. Eldris prepares and submits all French reports on your behalf.

Does Amazon Pay on Behalf cover France?

Amazon operates Pay on Behalf for some EPR streams in France, but it does not provide your own registration numbers or satisfy the legal producer registration requirement. Direct registration through Eldris gives you your own UINs.

Can I add France to an existing German registration?

Yes. Additional countries can be added at any time. France is charged as a one-off annual fee per EPR stream — there is no monthly billing — and your existing business data from German onboarding is reused, so no second form is needed. See the France pricing table above for the per-stream fees.

Where are the sellers on Amazon.fr based?

The Sellers Index found 4,982 sellers with a recorded country on Amazon.fr, last seen January 2026 to March 2026: 79% had a business address outside France, and 58.8% outside the EU.
