WEEE EPR in Hungary is mandatory under the 2023 extended-producer-responsibility reform (Government Decree 80/2023), which made MOHU the single national concession holder for all waste streams. Producers placing electronics, batteries or packaging on the Hungarian market must register with the National Waste Management Authority (NWMA) and pay the EPR fee through MOHU. EPR registration in Hungary costs £740 for Packaging, £790 for WEEE and £655 for Battery with Eldris — a one-off annual fee, never monthly. Pan-EU Amazon sellers whose stock reaches Hungarian customers carry the obligation directly; without an NWMA registration, Hungarian fulfilment is non-compliant. Eldris determines which streams your products trigger and files each under the MOHU regime.

Hungary centralises producer registration with the National Waste Management Authority (NWMA, Hungarian acronym OHKT). Registration places your products into the correct KF (product) codes and triggers the EPR fee charged through MOHU, the state concession company that operates collection nationwide.

A Hungarian NWMA registration is country-specific and cannot be replaced by an Austrian, German or any other EU number. Eldris secures the NWMA registration, assigns the KF codes, sets up the MOHU account, and delivers the confirmation formatted for Amazon Seller Central upload.

Single state concession (MOHU): since 1 July 2023 Hungary has had no competing collective schemes — MOHU (MOL Hulladékgazdálkodási Zrt.) holds the exclusive concession, so every producer's EPR fee flows through one state-appointed operator rather than a chosen PRO.

EPR fee plus environmental product fee: Hungary historically charged a separate környezetvédelmi termékdíj (environmental product fee); the new EPR fee sits alongside the registration, and both must be administered correctly to stay compliant.

KF code classification: products are mapped to Hungarian KF codes that determine the fee rate. Hungarian WEEE sits at £790 and Battery at £655 one-off per year with Eldris, including the Authorised Representative.

Hungarian EPR reporting is quarterly. Producers declare the quantities and weight of electronics, batteries and packaging placed on the Hungarian market each quarter to the NWMA, and MOHU invoices the EPR fee from those declared masses.
