Ireland centralises producer registration in the National WEEE Register, operated by Producer Register Limited on behalf of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications. Registration issues a producer registration number, while membership of an approved scheme — WEEE Ireland or ERP Ireland for electronics and batteries, Repak for packaging — discharges the physical recovery duty.

An Irish registration is country-specific and cannot be replaced by a UK, French or any other registration; post-Brexit, a British producer number carries no weight in the Republic. What Makes Ireland Different

Register plus approved scheme: Irish compliance has two layers — a National WEEE Register entry through Producer Register Limited and membership of an approved compliance scheme (WEEE Ireland or ERP for electronics and batteries, Repak for packaging). Both are required before listings are compliant.

English-language jurisdiction: Ireland is the only euro-zone EPR market that administers entirely in English, but the registration is still a distinct national obligation. Irish WEEE and Battery each sit at £585 one-off per year with Eldris.

Irish Reporting Cycles and Deadlines

Irish producer responsibility runs on monthly and annual reporting for WEEE and batteries, with the National WEEE Register and the compliance schemes collecting placed-on-market data, while packaging is reported to Repak. Producers report units and weight placed on the Irish market, and recovery contributions are calculated from those figures.

Is the fee annual or monthly?

Each registration line is one payment a year, per country. There is no monthly billing. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country is registered and renews at the same price (Terms, section 5). Government, authority and scheme fees are passed through at cost, never marked up.

How long does EPR registration in Ireland take?

Can I use my UK or French EPR number in Ireland?

No. Irish producer responsibility is a separate national registration on the National WEEE Register. A UK producer registration is invalid in the Republic post-Brexit, and a French UIN does not apply either. What is the National WEEE Register?

The National WEEE Register, run by Producer Register Limited for the Department of the Environment, is Ireland's official register of electrical and battery producers. Registration there, combined with an approved compliance scheme such as WEEE Ireland or ERP, is what makes you compliant. Packaging is handled separately through Repak. Eldris files in whichever are required.

Do non-EU sellers need an Authorised Representative in Ireland?

Yes, if they sell directly to consumers there. A seller established outside Ireland appoints an authorised representative in Ireland for packaging (Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 45(3)) and for batteries (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 56(3)); for electronics it registers there through an authorised representative where it is not registered itself (Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 16(1)).
