Amazon EPR numbers in Seller Central: what each marketplace asks for
Summary
Eldris provides the registration numbers each Amazon marketplace asks for, issued to Eldris by the country's authority or scheme, with an Eldris certificate for each. Pay on Behalf does not register you and cannot be combined with the service in a country.

Eldris provides the Amazon EPR numbers each marketplace asks for, issued to Eldris by each country's authority or scheme. It adds the Eldris certificate for each registration. Each marketplace asks for the numbers of its own country, stream by stream, and they come from the registers it checks. Amazon Pay on Behalf handles eco-contributions in some countries but does not register you, and cannot be combined with the service in a country. Under Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 44(4), a producer registers before placing packaging on a country's market.
Which number each Amazon marketplace asks for
Each Amazon marketplace in the EU checks the EPR registration numbers of its own country, stream by stream. There is no single EU number. Germany asks for a LUCID packaging number, a WEEE-Reg.-Nr. and a battery registration before electronics can list.
The table shows what Amazon's main EU marketplaces ask for, as the Amazon EPR requirements page records it.
| Marketplace | What it asks for |
|---|---|
| Amazon.de (Germany) | A LUCID packaging number, a WEEE-Reg.-Nr. from Stiftung EAR and a battery registration |
| Amazon.fr (France) | A Unique Identification Number (UIN) for each stream, required since 31 December 2022 |
| Amazon.it (Italy) | An Italian EPR registration number (ERN) for each stream |
| Amazon.es (Spain) | A Spanish EPR registration for each stream; packaging needs a Spanish NIF first |
| Amazon.nl (Netherlands) | A Dutch producer registration for packaging, WEEE and batteries |
| Amazon.pl (Poland) | A BDO registration number; Polish WEEE needs a Polish packaging registration first |
Since 12 August 2026 the PPWR has extended verified packaging registration to every EU member state, not only these marketplaces. A seller who lists in several countries needs a number for each country and each stream it sells there. Each registration is its own line on the pricing page.
Where Amazon EPR numbers come from
Each registration number is issued to Eldris by the country's authority or scheme, and Eldris then issues its own certificate for that registration. Numbers and certificates reach your Eldris dashboard market by market, as each country confirms.
The registers behind the numbers are the ones the marketplaces check. In Germany, packaging numbers are checked against the LUCID register, and WEEE and battery numbers against Stiftung EAR. In France, the UIN is issued with the registration for each stream. In Poland, one BDO number covers every stream, and a table is added for each one. The number is what a marketplace asks for; the certificate is the Eldris document for the same registration.
The service covers the registration with the authority and the scheme, the authorised representative where a country requires one, and the declarations for the year. Scheme memberships, authority fees and eco-contributions are separate and passed through at cost; the published tariffs are on the scheme and authority fees page. From the date a country confirms the registration, its 12 months run. The steps from payment to numbers are set out on how the service works.
Matching each number to its marketplace and stream
In Seller Central, a number is entered for the marketplace whose country issued it. Each marketplace checks the numbers of its own country, so a German number does nothing on Amazon.fr, and a French UIN does nothing on Amazon.it.
A few checks help avoid a mismatch. First, match the stream: a packaging number does not stand in for a WEEE number, and neither covers batteries. Second, match the country. A seller that sells to consumers in France through Amazon.de makes its packaging available in France. It registers there under Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Articles 3(1)(15) and 44(2). A German registration does not cover France.
Third, tell Eldris which numbers you already hold before you pay, by replying to your quote. The portal also asks for existing registration numbers country by country, which avoids a duplicate registration. Two countries set an order of their own: Polish WEEE needs a Polish packaging registration first, and Spain packaging can only be filed once your Spanish NIF has been issued. The marketplace-by-marketplace verification calendar for every EU country covers the dates. This question sits with the others sellers ask on the EPR questions page.
Provisional numbers and files still in progress
Eldris does not issue a provisional number of its own. A registration number comes from the country's authority or scheme, and until it does, the file is pending, not registered.
The law asks for registration before goods are placed on a country's market, and the duty sits in each stream's law. For packaging it is Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 44(2); for electrical equipment it is Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 16(1); for batteries it is Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 55(2).
Eldris usually submits to the authorities within 48 hours of payment and your product information. After that, the country's register sets the pace. Each line on the pricing page shows an average time to register. It is counted from the day Eldris has your complete documents and signed power of attorney. Those figures are averages from recent registrations, not dates. If a marketplace has given you a deadline, say so before you pay, by replying to your quote. Eldris can then compare it with the average for that line. No marketplace deadline moves an authority's timetable.
Pay on Behalf or your own registration, country by country
Amazon Pay on Behalf cannot be combined with the Eldris service in a country, so each country runs on one route or the other. Pay on Behalf handles eco-contributions in some countries, but it does not register you and gives you no producer number.
Under Pay on Behalf, Amazon pays the eco-contributions on your sales in the markets where it operates and charges you for them. France shows how it can start: sellers without a UIN were enrolled automatically from 31 December 2022. It covers only that marketplace's sales, not your own website or another platform. It does not register you with the national authority or provide a WEEE producer number. Nor does it meet the obligation under ElektroG or the equivalent national law.
Your own registration works the other way round. Each stream gets a number from the national register, which is the number the marketplace checks, with the authorised representative where a country requires one. In a country where Eldris registers you, Pay on Behalf is not used alongside it. The comparison of Pay on Behalf with WEEE registration sets out when each route costs more.
Frequently asked questions
Are these the numbers Amazon checks?
They come from the registers Amazon checks. In Germany that is the LUCID register for packaging and Stiftung EAR for WEEE and batteries; elsewhere it is the national register or scheme for each stream. The check itself is run by the marketplace.
Does a German number work on Amazon.fr or Amazon.it?
No. Each marketplace checks the numbers of its own country, and there is no single EU number. A seller listing in France and Italy needs a French UIN and an Italian ERN for each stream, as well as its German numbers.
I already hold some numbers. What do I tell Eldris?
Tell Eldris before you pay, by replying to your quote. The portal also asks for your existing registration numbers country by country, which avoids a duplicate registration. Taking over an existing representative or scheme contract is quoted separately.
Can Pay on Behalf and Eldris run in the same country?
No. Pay on Behalf cannot be combined with the Eldris service in a country. Where Pay on Behalf stays in place, Amazon handles the eco-contributions, but you hold no producer number there and the registration duty remains yours.
What happens when a number is missing on a deadline?
On each dated deadline that the Amazon EPR requirements page records, Amazon removed or deactivated offers without the number. Battery offers were deactivated on 18 August 2025, for example. Seller accounts with repeated violations face deactivation, and German law sets fines under ElektroG, section 45.
Where is the price for each number?
On the pricing page, one line per country and stream. Scheme memberships, authority fees and eco-contributions are separate, passed through at cost and listed on the scheme and authority fees page. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country confirms it.
