What You Must Register in the Czech Republic

WEEE EPR in the Czech Republic is mandatory under Act No. 542/2020 Coll. on end-of-life products, which transposes the EU WEEE Directive and requires producers to join an authorised collective compliance scheme. Producers placing electrical equipment, batteries or packaging on the Czech market must enrol with ASEKOL, ECOBAT or EKO-KOM respectively. EPR registration in the Czech Republic costs £355 for Packaging, £555 for WEEE and £450 for Battery with Eldris — a one-off annual fee, never monthly. Pan-EU Amazon sellers whose stock reaches Czech customers must register; without scheme membership, Czech fulfilment is non-compliant. Czech Compliance Schemes as Your EPR Identity

The Czech model establishes producer identity through enrolment in an authorised collective scheme — ASEKOL for electronics, ECOBAT for batteries and EKO-KOM for packaging — combined with entry in the Ministry's producer records. Your scheme membership and producer record are what Czech compliance is checked against.

What Makes the Czech Republic Different

Well-defined collective schemes per stream: the Czech market runs mature, stream-specific schemes — ASEKOL runs an electronics scheme, ECOBAT handles batteries and EKO-KOM runs a packaging scheme. A seller with all three product types needs all three memberships, arranged together by Eldris.

Minimum handling charges built in: the Czech packaging line includes the schemes' minimum handling charges, and the battery line covers registration, declaration and basic recycling — so the Eldris fee reflects the real entry cost rather than a bare registration.

Pan-EU only: the Czech Republic has no standalone Amazon marketplace, so the obligation typically arises from Pan-EU stock storage or cross-border fulfilment from Amazon.de. Additional brands are £90 each.

Czech Reporting Cycles and Deadlines

Czech producer responsibility runs on a quarterly and annual reporting rhythm. Producers report the quantities of electronics, batteries and packaging placed on the Czech market to their schemes, which calculate the recycling contributions. EKO-KOM in particular operates quarterly packaging declarations that feed the annual reconciliation.

Each registration line is one payment a year, per country. There is no monthly billing. Each registration runs for 12 months from the date that country is registered and renews at the same price (Terms, section 5). Government, authority and scheme fees are passed through at cost, never marked up.

How long does EPR registration in the Czech Republic take?

Can I use my German or Austrian EPR number in the Czech Republic?

No. Czech producer responsibility is established through membership of authorised schemes — ASEKOL, ECOBAT and EKO-KOM — plus the Ministry's producer record. A German WEEE-Reg.-Nr. or Austrian EAK number is not valid in the Czech Republic. Eldris reuses your existing business data to enrol you without a second onboarding form.

Why does the Czech Republic need three different schemes?

The Czech model assigns each waste stream to its own authorised collective scheme: ASEKOL for electronics, ECOBAT for batteries and EKO-KOM for packaging. A producer placing all three on the market needs membership of each. Eldris arranges whichever schemes apply in one onboarding.

Do non-EU sellers need an Authorised Representative in the Czech Republic?

Yes, if they sell directly to consumers there. A seller established outside the Czech Republic appoints an authorised representative in the Czech Republic for packaging (Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 45(3)) and for batteries (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, Article 56(3)); for electronics it registers there through an authorised representative where it is not registered itself (Directive 2012/19/EU, Article 16(1)).
